Spicing Up Monochromatic Looks

Spicing Up Monochromatic Looks

This post goes out to anyone who has looked in their closet today and saw a SEA of one or two colors.

Don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE fan of wearing simple, monochromatic color combos, but let's face it, wearing black& white all the time can get a little boring.  So I created this Polyvore to show how adding a "pop" of color you can change the look and feel of the entire outfit.

Trench coats are a classic and very versatile, this butterscotch colored one from Old Navy adds a hint of flavor to the other wise black and white ensemble while keeping the overall look polished.  The black and white striped print of the clutch and scarf stay within the color scheme while adding a fun twist.  I decided to add a long drapey necklace in sterling silver for a hint of drama to keep the look from being to dull; but with statement necklace I opted for understated (yet sparkly) stud earrings....and of course you can never go wrong with a black pump :)

One of the reasons I LOVE using Polyvore is because it really is like a virtual closet!  It allows me to piece together looks by simply searching by brand name, item category and even price point for articles I already own and ones I'm interested in buying to create the perfect look (or at least perfect in my mind, lol).  In this particular set I would only need the River Island striped clutch and the Mango scarf to make this outfit inspiration a reality!

I hope I've inspired you to spice up a monochromatic look! Until next time

P.S. I realized after the fact that the mannequin is preggers, lol...

***This lovely photo collage was creating using Polyvore a site which I LOVE! Go sign up, its totally fun and FREE!  To find out more information about all the items in this set and to view the rest of my sets check out the Not Quite Glam on Polyvore***
